Picked from the farm in Essex, these red currants are simmered gently and then moved to a fruit press to be squeezed slowly so every last drop of juice can be gleaned from the fruit. A perfect pairing with strongly flavoured meat (lamb, some cuts of beef), Tiptree's Red Currant Jelly also makes an incredible addition to gravy - adding a degree of sweetness and acidity that helps in balancing flavours.
The Wilkin family have been farming at Tiptree, Essex, since 1757, and making quality preserves there since 1885. There, they grow a wide range of traditional English fruits and use them to make conserves and condiments in their nut-free factory by the farm.
Tiptree products are made to cherished recipes and are free from artificial colours and flavours. They inspect and prepare their fruit by hand then cook in small batches using traditional, copper-bottomed pans. Tiptree received their first Royal Warrant from George V in 1911, and remain Royal Warrant holders as purveyors of Tiptree Products to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
