Our Story
The Hunter's Pantry is a bricks and mortar retail and wholesale business based in Newcastle, New South Wales. We carry a large range of premium products for all cooking, dining and kitchen needs. The Hunter's Pantry was founded by Leonie Young in 2005 as The Essential Ingredient Newcastle. We rebranded in 2022 to become an independent business sourcing ethical, sustainable and traceable products where we can.
The Hunter's Pantry provides products to Newcastle and the Hunter Valley's best restaurants and cafes. Our solid customer base are loyal customers who come from far and wide to buy their pantry, kitchen and table products and well as our delicious delicatessen lines.
Our cooking school is the only school in Newcastle region that has a dedicated space and equipment. We run classes weekly that focus on techniques and cuisines and are suited to any level of cooking experience.
We are driven to inspire better cooking and believe that purchasing products shouldn't cost the earth - we live by the adage that you should 'buy once, buy well' - kitchenware, tableware and accessories should not be disposable. They should last a lifetime - albeit their lifetime not yours!
We believe that supporting staff to have a work/life balance is imperative to having a sustainable business. Our staff are knowledgeable, incredibly friendly passionate cooks who talk food all day long.
