This Seki Magorku 1000/4000 Whetstone has been designed to keep your blades razor sharp: the 1000 grit side will take off any minor bumps or bruises, and the 4000 grit will leave your blade incredibly sharp. This whetstone comes with a multifunctional storage case: it has space to fill up with water, helping to wet the stone, and additionally has a non-slip coating on both sides - ensuring your new razor sharp blade stays where it's supposed to! We would recommend coarser stones for more damaged blades - enquire in store!

While they are spelt differently, a whetstone does need to be wet to be used. This isn't how the stone got its name, however; "to whet" something is to sharpen it.

There you go.

This doesn't stop the stone from needing to be wet however - the whetstone needs to be thoroughly soaked (a wholly wet whetstone).
