While often seen as synonymous with Japanese food, Ramen, or at least the idea of noodles in a soup broth was brought from 19th Century China. Some say that the pork heavy broth was made by accident - a pot of pork bones left unattended for too long until a cook discovered this happy accident.

The noodles themselves are wheat based with a slighlty chewy texture. They're well suited towards hearty and comforting hot broths however they can be used in stir-fries (yaki-ramen), salads, or pulled through chilled broths ala tsukemen.
