Description

The mixed 3 colour striped candle set from British Colour Standard is the perfect gift to yourself or a loved one. Eco-friendly, and hand-poured under World Fair Trade Organisation agreements in Indonesia, these 24.5cm candles have an 8-9 burn time with a clean, tall flame. The stearin wax itself is vegan, sustainably derived and has a higher melting point than paraffin or other common candle waxes - meaning that the candles burn for longer, drip and smoke less.

The bold colour palate from British Colour Standard was established in 1931, but by the 1950’s, it fell out of use. The art and design team of Jackie Piper & Victoria Whitbread found a British Colour Standard colour dictionary in an Oxfam shop, and used a digital colour reader to create colour profiles and log these incredible artifacts lost to time. The colours themselves were inspired by nature: flora & fauna as well as from precious stones and spices, and many of the main collections feature special Royal colours, which were used for coronations and other royal events.
