Ingredients to be mashed are placed under the spring - once the spring is pushed down, the now mashed ingredients pass through the thin gap in the coils. This Lite version is still great for mashing potatoes, but it's excellent in working with pumpkin, avocado, banana, sweet potato and baby food.
