Description
A weed by any other name, Wakame is one of the most popular types of sea vegetable. It's typically sold dried and Wakame's most common uses are in salads or soups (think the seaweed often found in miso soup). If using in a salad, blanch briefly in boiling water and then shock in iced water to retain the bright green appearance. If using in soup, reconstitute it by soaking in cool water. It could also be ground and used in a rub, marinade or anywhere you require a kick of umami.
