Hawaji (also known as Hawayej, Hawaj, or Hawayij) is a spice blend used in Yemenite and Israeli cooking. It's often used in savoury dishes but interestingly can also be used in coffee, cakes and other sweeter goods. With a flavour profile highlighting black pepper and cumin, Herbie's version also contains ground coriander seed, caraway seed, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, turmeric and Aleppo pepper.
